Meal prep often gets presented as an all-or-nothing weekend project involving a dozen identical containers. A simpler, partial version is usually more sustainable for beginners.
Start with one meal, not all three
Prepping just lunches, or just breakfasts, for the week is a manageable entry point. Trying to batch-cook every meal at once is often what causes people to quit after one attempt.
Build around a simple formula
A base of protein, a vegetable, and a carb source — rotated across a few different combinations — is enough variety to avoid boredom without needing a new recipe every day.
Keep the tools basic
A couple of good containers and one dedicated prep session a week (60–90 minutes) covers most of what’s needed. Expensive equipment isn’t the barrier most people think it is.
